A civilian sustained injuries amid an incident attributed to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the village of Staromikhailovka within the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR). A local Telegram channel linked to Donetsk mayor Alexey Kulemzin reported the event, noting that Ukrainian troops allegedly launched an explosive device into a populated area and also employed unmanned aerial vehicles to carry out the attack.
According to the report, the explosive discharge in Staromikhailovka affected residents, including a woman born in 1948 who was injured during the incident. The description from the channel emphasizes that the blast occurred in a civilian setting, underscoring concerns about harm to noncombatants in the area.
Officials at the Joint Control and Coordination Center (JCCC), which monitors incidents in the region, indicated that Ukrainian forces carried out two strikes on the settlement on January 7. The first detonation occurred at 13:10, followed by a second strike at 16:45, illustrating a pattern of repeated attacks within a single day that targeted the same populated locality.
On the same day, Roman Starovoyt, governor of the Kursk Region, reported that Ukrainian troops also shelled the village of Kozino in the Rylsky district. He noted that the attack caused a partial power outage in the locality, highlighting the broader impact on civilian infrastructure and daily life in nearby communities.
Reports from the DPR side also referenced damage to healthcare facilities as a consequence of shelling by AFU forces. One of Donetsk’s hospitals was reported to have sustained damage as a result of ongoing hostilities, drawing attention to the strain placed on medical services amid continued conflict in the region.
