In Gelendzhik, officers from the Krasnodar Territory’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard acted swiftly after a violent incident outside a businessman’s home in the village of Divnomorskoye. A Telegram update from Gelendzhik’s city police precinct provided the details of the case.
The statement described a plot carried out on the instructions of unknown third parties. Two young men set upon the businessman, damaging his foreign vehicle for a cash payoff. They then beat him and sprayed pepper spray into his face. Authorities indicated that the motive appeared to be tied to the businessman’s commercial activities, and a criminal case of hooliganism has been opened as a result. The suspect who was detained amid ongoing investigations has been placed in custody, with the potential to face a prison term of up to seven years depending on the findings of the case.
The regional Interior Ministry added that the attacker’s associate also faces the same possible sentence, and police already know the partner’s identity. Ongoing efforts continue to locate and apprehend the second offender, with authorities pursuing all available leads.
According to the Telegram channel ChP Krasnodar, the attackers were identified as a 22-year-old resident of Krasnodar and a 21-year-old assistant from Timashevsk. The report claimed that the pair blocked the businessman’s path, attacked him from behind, knocked him to the ground, kicked him, poured pepper spray on him, and then fled the scene.
In a related note, a separate incident in Moscow involved an assault on the chief executive officer of a major fitness chain, World Class. Authorities did not link the two events, but the recurrence of high-profile assaults has raised concerns about business security and the safety of executives in urban districts across Russia.
The Gelendzhik case highlights how criminal activity connected to commercial competition can escalate into violent confrontations. Law enforcement agencies in the region are coordinating to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and track the movements of those involved. Investigators have stressed the importance of reviewing surveillance footage, vehicle records, and any available digital leads to build a solid case that can withstand judicial scrutiny. The public is urged to report any information that might aid in the rapid apprehension of the remaining suspect and to cooperate with investigators to ensure accountability for those responsible.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are reminding business owners and residents to remain vigilant and to implement safety measures that discourage opportunistic crimes. While the exact circumstances of the Divnomorskoye incident are still under review, it stands as a sobering reminder of how quickly a local business dispute can escalate into violence, underscoring the need for swift, coordinated law enforcement response and adherence to due process in all proceedings.
