In Moscow a man falls prey to a fortune teller, loses 300,000 rubles

In Moscow, a man pursued a second chance with his ex by turning to a fortune teller and sending 300,000 rubles to a self-styled healer he found online. The report appeared on a popular Telegram channel named Basis.

A local resident even faced the burden of collecting his own debts after the incident.

According to the post, the former girlfriend had struggled with long‑standing depression, and doctors had advised a breakup as part of her therapy. Supporters of the counselor argued that separation from a partner could be beneficial for healing, though the facts remain disputed.

“The girl did not fully explain her side, so the man found himself adrift and confused, and he turned to this fortune teller, Olga Vladimirovna, after searching the web for someone who could mend a shattered relationship,” the channel noted.

Shortly after the initial payment, the man had handed over 41 thousand rubles.

“Once the money moved, the sole instruction was to place Olga’s photo under a pillow and to light church candles at home,” the post continued.

Yet the clairvoyant soon demanded another ceremony at a higher price, asking for 444 thousand rubles more.

As a result, the man borrowed money from his boss to cover the new fee and took out a loan to fulfill the request. The swindler who had received 300 thousand rubles then blocked the abandoned man, cutting off contact.

In court, the earlier ruling found the so‑called clairvoyant guilty for duping the man out of half a million rubles and causing financial damage. The case highlights how someone can be drawn into a troubling cycle when personal vulnerability meets fraudulent assurances, and how easily online personas can exploit real emotions for profit.
