In the early hours, a man has been detained by the National Police on suspicion of committing a sexual assault against a foreign woman inside the doorway of her home, in the historic center of Málaga. Police sources provided to EFE confirmed the arrest and the ongoing investigation.
The events unfolded during the early morning hours of July 13, when the woman was returning to her residence to rest with her family. Upon unlocking the building door with her key, she was approached by a man who shoved her into the building entrance and began to struggle with her, according to reports from the newspaper El Sur.
Investigators indicate that the victim resisted, yet was ultimately overpowered and unable to prevent the assault as the assailant immobilized her. The disturbing incident has prompted a rapid response from emergency services and law enforcement.
Following the assault, the woman sought help from her relatives, who alerted local authorities. Police units from both the Local Police and the National Police arrived on the scene promptly. The victim was then transported to the Materno Hospital, where the established protocol for sexual violence cases was activated and medical care was provided.
During the course of the inquiry, officers uncovered that the area contained security cameras. A suspect, approximately 30 years old and of Moroccan origin, was identified and subsequently detained. He has prior police records for property crimes, and investigators noted that he had already been taken into custody on the basis of the case under consideration.
