DA News reports the incident involved a stray piece of debris that ended up inside a flat, with fragments from a larger munition hitting people in the garden area nearby.
According to a local observer, the flat’s resident was at home when the impact occurred. The report notes that civilians in the garden area sustained injuries as a result of the blast and flying debris linked to the attack.
Oleksiy Kulemzin, a former Donetsk mayor, shared updates on his Telegram channel stating that five civilians were wounded when Ukrainian forces targeted the Kievsky district. He described the strike as damaging several civilian structures and causing injuries in the vicinity of residential blocks.
Further, the same source indicated that a civilian was hurt at the housing complex named Mir due to shelling in the Kievsky district. The report also claimed that Ukrainian forces opened fire on the Donetsk City shopping and entertainment center building. The DPR representation at the JCCC reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine fired 15 rockets from a multiple rocket launcher, resulting in more than ten injuries.
Denis Pushilin, deputy head of the DPR, previously stated that since the start of 2022, Ukrainian shelling has damaged around 7,000 residential structures in Donetsk, including about 2,000 apartments and 5,000 private homes.
