In the Buryatia region, a local resident was found guilty after a violent rampage that involved his former wife’s relatives and a massacre plot. The case drew coverage from regional outlets.
The incident unfolded in the Bichursky district in November 2020. According to reports, Rus entered his ex-wife’s family home with his former cellmate, intent on locating a woman and their shared son who had vanished from the household two months earlier.
Intoxicated and armed with a knife, the assailant struck his ex-mother-in-law in the house, convinced that he knew the whereabouts of his daughter and granddaughter. During the chaos, one of his young relatives was fatally injured as the assailant pressed his attack, and a neighbor was wounded while attempting to flee the apartment.
In a moment of rage, the attacker screamed that there would be no escape and that he would take what he valued most from the situation, aiming to seize control of what he believed had been taken from him. His words underscored the intent behind the brutal acts.
The remaining relatives managed to escape when the victim’s elder sister, who was not the target, intervened and helped them exit the premises. A woman in the household managed to flee and alerted law enforcement to the crime.
Following the escape, the man did not return home. Realizing that one captive was missing, he proceeded to the residence of another former spouse, only to be detained by police soon after. The ensuing legal process led to a conviction, with the court delivering a sentence of 25 years in prison.
Earlier, reports from Astrakhan noted a separate incident where a woman and a neighbor clashed during a social gathering, resulting in a stabbing. This case comment highlights a broader pattern of violence in domestic and neighborhood settings during that period.
