The 2022-2023 Social Tourism Programme, commonly known as Imserso trips, is launching a fresh season that runs from October 2022 through June 2023. The initial batch offers 820,000 seats and, importantly, there is no price increase for senior participants. The programme aims to provide accessible travel opportunities for older adults, enabling meaningful experiences without added financial burden.
Nearly four million seniors are anticipated to be eligible across the season. Those who appear to qualify will start receiving an information letter about the new season and its details. This communication marks the first formal step for beneficiaries to understand the offerings, dates, and procedures involved in joining the trips.
By month’s end, a deadline will be announced for new beneficiary registrations or for updating participant data. In early September, letters will be dispatched confirming participant accreditation and eligibility, ensuring transparency and clarity for all applicants before the travel window opens.
During the second half of September, the programme will begin commercializing the travel slots to align with the typically quieter tourist period in mid-October. This approach seeks to restore the programme’s traditional planning cadence and ensure a smooth rollout of trips when demand and seasonal conditions are favorable.
Imserso confirms that the prices seniors pay for these excursions remain unchanged for the new season. If demand surpasses the initial 820,000 travel opportunities, the programme retains flexibility to increase the number of available trips to accommodate more participants and to keep access broad and inclusive.
Reclaimed and solid
The campaign is on track to surpass prior participation limits, with projections indicating more than half a million trips enjoyed. Officials describe the programme as fully optimized and robust, reflecting sustained strength and reliability in service delivery for older travelers.
According to recent evaluations of the elderly participants conducted in April, the Social Tourism Programme receives a rating of high or very high from about 80 percent of both male and female travelers. This positive assessment underscores the value and satisfaction associated with participation in Imserso trips.
Regarding the impact of COVID-19 on Imserso travels since January, data through mid-May record 625 cases across the programme, with roughly 0.15 percent of the approximately 420,000 travellers reporting infection during or after their trips. The rate remains low, reflecting ongoing safety measures and responsible travel practices adopted within the programme.
Overall, the Imserso trips offer a stable, well-supported pathway for seniors to explore new destinations, maintain social connections, and enjoy the benefits of travel without the risk of price increases. The programme’s continued emphasis on accessibility, safety, and reliability positions it as a cornerstone of social tourism for older adults in both Spain and broader audiences tracking these initiatives in Europe and North America.
