It was a moment long anticipated—though not welcomed—since last summer. That was when Imaginarium, the Aragón-born toy empire, signed its death warrant after a year of efforts to reach an accord with more than 800 creditors to stretch out a 26 million euro debt that threatened to suffocate the business. Today, several months on, the brand that kept many children of the nineties company as they grew has said goodbye for good.

The reason behind the decision is symbolic, yet it marks the final exit from the digital world we inhabit. Imaginarium’s web domain has ceased to exist.

That is how the company from Aragón announced it on its official Facebook profile. “Dear families, moms, dads, grandmothers… you may have noticed that our website has not been functioning for some days. We held on until the last moment, until our last breath, to press the button and say goodbye,” the post began.

The final ending and “mixed emotions”

“With a heart full of mixed emotions and after many years of serving families, watching your children grow and yourselves mature, we are saddened to inform you that Imaginarium is coming to an end. We want to express our sincerest thanks for your loyalty, fidelity, and support over the years,” the message continued, emphasizing the “honor and privilege” of being part of the lives of all its customers and their children, providing moments of joy and fun through its toys.

“We carry with us wonderful memories and special bonds formed with each one of you,” they added.

“We want to take this opportunity to thank our amazing team, whose hard work and dedication have been essential to Imaginarium’s success. They fought to the very end, to the last minute. While this chapter ends, we remember with warmth the moments we shared, the community we built together, and the values we managed to pass on through play in one way or another. We bid farewell with gratitude, knowing we helped make this world a better place,” they concluded, bringing 32 years of history to a close.
