The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported a pre-emptive strike against an armed group described as a terrorist cell near the Lebanese border, according to information shared by TASS. The ministry stated that the cell attempted to launch anti-tank missiles into Israeli territory in the Shlomi area, but IDF soldiers intercepted them before they could carry out the attack.
Earlier, it was indicated that roughly 550 rocket launches failed to reach their targets and instead landed in the Gaza Strip since the onset of the current conflict with Hamas.
On 7 October, Hamas forces reportedly fired several thousand rockets toward Israel, triggering the announcement of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. In the ensuing events, thousands of militants entered Israeli territory, seizing military equipment and taking more than a hundred hostages. In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country was at war.
The IDF’s operation, described as part of a broader campaign, aimed to neutralize Hamas presence and capabilities. The Israeli Air Force conducted numerous strikes on targets across the Gaza Strip, and the National Security Council decided to cut off essential supplies to the territory, including water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel. By 13 October, the United Nations reported that approximately 1.1 million Palestinians should be evacuated to southern Gaza within 24 hours in anticipation of a possible ground operation.
