The National Police in Ibiza detained a 38-year-old man of Colombian origin last Sunday on allegations connected to crimes against public health. The arrest took place at the doorstep of his residence at 12:20, just as he was preparing to leave, according to the police statement.

Initial reports suggest tensions between the suspect and his roommates may have sparked the incident. When officers arrived, they rang the doorphone and were answered by a woman who spoke in a nervous tone, raising alarms about a recent escape by a roommate that had occurred minutes earlier. The scene hinted at a volatile domestic situation, and officers quickly moved to secure the area.

The officers from the Citizens’ Security Brigade halted the man as he attempted to flee the home, noting his visible agitation and inconsistent explanations about his actions. During questioning, he provided evasive answers, which prompted investigators to search him more thoroughly for potential contraband linked to drug trafficking or distribution.

As a result of the suspicions and observed conduct, authorities proceeded with a formal search of the person and the premises. A large plastic bag containing a substantial quantity of pink pills was discovered in a cardboard box he was carrying, evidencing alleged narcotic substances. This discovery reinforced the officers’ decision to arrest him on charges related to public health infractions and drug possession with intent to distribute.

Following the initial arrest, the UDYCO drug enforcement unit conducted further investigative steps. The Security Court was requested to authorize entry and search of both the man’s residence and his vehicle, in line with standard procedures for cases involving suspected drug trafficking and distribution networks.

During the search of the detainee’s home, investigators identified items in the kitchen that could be used in the sale and distribution of narcotics, including precision scales, bags and packaging materials suitable for controlled substances. The devices found suggested a setup for weighing, packaging, and transporting illegal drugs from one location to another.

Law enforcement continued the operation by retrieving narcotics from both the residence and the vehicle. The quantities recovered included more than 340 grams of ecstasy and approximately 3.5 grams of pink cocaine, colloquially known as tusi, along with cash believed to be proceeds from illegal activity. The combination of these findings established a stronger case for drug distribution and public health offenses, prompting the police to secure the scene and continue the investigation.

The detainee was placed into custody and is being held for further judicial processing, with authorities arranging for the appropriate review by the Court of Duty. The ongoing investigation remains active as officers seek additional evidence to clarify the scope of the alleged operation and any potential accomplices. The case highlights the police commitment to monitoring illegal drug markets and enforcing public health protections within the Ibiza community. (Policía Nacional de Ibiza)
