i-DE Expands Self-Consumption Across Alicante and Valencia Regions

i-DE, the distributor within the Iberdrola group, reports more than 19,500 self-consumption installations now connected to the electricity grid in Alicante province, with about 44,000 installations across the Community of Valencia. These projects feed clean energy into both low and medium voltage networks, helping households, businesses, and communities reduce their carbon footprint while enhancing grid resilience. The company notes that the rapid deployment of solar and other distributed generation reflects growing consumer interest and supportive policy frameworks, as well as the technical ability to integrate variable generation without compromising reliability. In recent activity, i-DE organized an online training session for industry professionals in collaboration with the Valencia Professional Associations of Technical Engineers and Superior Technicians, along with installer groups Aselec, SEME, Apeme, Femeval, and Aiecs. The session attracted more than 350 participants and emphasized consistent standards, safety practices, and measurement procedures that ensure smooth operation across the regional grid. The event underscored the sector’s momentum and the ongoing effort to harmonize grid connection rules, inverter settings, power quality, and metering across diverse local networks. Stakeholders highlighted the importance of ongoing education to align technical skill sets with evolving regulations and technology, ensuring installers can design and maintain systems that maximize performance while protecting grid stability. The distributed energy landscape in the Valencian Community is characterized by a growing mix of residential, commercial, and public sector projects, with i-DE coordinating standards and technical guidance to support seamless integration.
