A Transformation and Vision for HOSBEC
HOSBEC began as a regional association and, in 2011, broadened its scope by adopting the name Valencia Community Hotel and Tourism Operators Association to reflect its expanded reach.
Across its growth, the organization has remained committed to innovation, a strong regional framework, and a clear mission: defend and advance the tourism, hotel, and lodging sectors. This was articulated by its new president, who underscored the association’s aim to support a robust tourism economy in the region.
As a leading voice, HOSBEC has become a central participant in national business circles, aligning with major bodies and sharing a prominent stance in tourism policy development within the Community of Valencia. Its influence extends to the core chambers of commerce and industry where it contributes to shaping the national tourism landscape.
HOSBEC is an active member of major national organizations and plays a pivotal role in the Valencian business ecosystem, participating in the primary socio-economic, commercial, tourism, and political institutions of the community.
A Team Built for Consolidation
A cornerstone of HOSBEC is its multidisciplinary team, which stays ahead of industry trends to deliver optimal support to partners. The organization centers four key areas of focus:
- Communication and Marketing
- HOSBEC Health
- Big Data and Innovation
- Quality and Projects
Today, thirteen professionals form the HOSBEC staff, led by the general secretary and joined most recently by a new general manager, ensuring leadership continuity and strategic direction.
Strategic Expansion for Regional Strength
The development of new brands has broadened HOSBEC’s representation across different sectors and parts of the Valencia region, enriching the community’s tourism framework.
Following a regional growth plan, HOSBEC Valencia was launched in 2017 with additional subsidiaries that continued to evolve. The portfolio now includes thirty-seven tourist accommodations across the network.
In 2018, HOSBEC Altur Castellón joined the federation, integrating with the historic Castellón hoteliers association. This alliance extended HOSBEC’s reach to the province of Castellón and positioned the organization as a leading commercial entity on the peninsula, with a current footprint of thirty properties.
The year 2022 closed with further consolidation through a new chapter in the Valencian Community, HOSBEC Alicante. The partnership with Alicante hotels began on November 9, marked by a formal visit from the city’s mayor and vice-mayor, who head the tourism office of the city.
Traditionally, the association has carried significant weight in the housing supply across its province and continues to strengthen its presence in and around the city. These diverse areas, each with unique characteristics, contribute additional value to the lodging market.
HOSBEC has evolved into the main hotel and tourism association for the Valencian Community, representing more than one hundred thousand accommodations across the region and earning recognition as a benchmark both nationally and internationally.
The current challenge is to secure a strong, unified, and well-structured sector across three decentralized cities while accommodating the varied needs of different tourism products.
HOSBEC Business: New Products, New Opportunities
MICE tourism stands out as a dynamic segment within the broader travel landscape, driven by year-round activity, meaningful economic impact, job creation, and enhanced regional visibility. Recognizing its potential, HOSBEC has committed to expanding its MICE capabilities through a dedicated initiative, branded HOSBEC Business.
This initiative aims to elevate Valencia as a premier destination for meetings, congresses, and trade shows, reinforcing the role of employers in essential regional economic and tourism institutions.
A primary objective of HOSBEC Business is to curate and showcase accommodations suited for convention tourism across the Valencian Community, streamlining options for event organizers.
Currently, the portfolio includes forty hotels under HOSBEC Business, with thirty-two serving the MICE market and eight serving the business market. The network totals 6,900 rooms and 189 meeting venues, designed to host events of all scales.
In Alicante, twenty-three affiliated hotels are connected with HOSBEC Business (eighteen MICE and five Business); Valencia hosts ten (nine MICE and one Business), and Castellón accounts for seven (five MICE and two Business).
HOSBEC Business has actively participated in key industry events, engaging with audiences at IMEX in Frankfurt and IBTM World in Barcelona to showcase the Valencia destination and its hotel portfolio.
