Hezbollah tensions and cross-border strikes reported in southern Lebanon

A television report from Al Mayadeen described surface-to-surface missiles fired by the Israeli army at Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. The strikes were aimed at military targets in the Ayt al-Shaab and Maroun al-Ras border zones. No figures were released about casualties among Hezbollah fighters.

The report also noted an air operation against the village of Yarun, located in the Bint Jbeil district along the eastern front. Earlier, a drone strike that hit a Shiite militia base in Kfar Rumman wounded three civilians in the ensuing attack on the area.

Hezbollah claimed three fighter fatalities in southern Lebanon on that day, while its military communications stated that eight operations had been carried out, during which a sizable number of rocket launchers and anti-tank guided missiles were used to strike Israeli territory.

According to the Naharnet news portal, the broader escalation since October 2023 has taken a toll on civilians, with 104 killed by Israeli shelling and artillery fire. The same sources indicate counted losses of 529 fighters for Hezbollah and allied Palestinian forces, along with 22 Israeli settlers who were victims of attacks attributed to Shiite fighters.

Meanwhile, statements from Paris indicated that President Macron spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu about Israel’s planning of an operation against Hezbollah, signaling international concern and diplomatic maneuvering around the ongoing conflict.
