HE working life REPORT
The working life report is an official document issued by Social Security in Spain that offers a detailed summary of an employee’s work history. This record is essential for both workers and employers and plays a key role in many administrative and personal areas.
The report provides a complete history of all work activities for individuals contributing to SSI premiums. It is issued by the Social Security General Treasury and is accessible to all contributing workers in Spain, regardless of nationality.
Data collected in the working life report includes:
- Personal information. It includes basic employee details such as name, Social Security number, and date of birth.
- Employment history. It lists each Social Security enrollment and withdrawal period, with exact start and end dates for every work period.
- Contract type and contribution group. Information on the nature of the employment contract (temporary, permanent, part-time, etc.) and the contribution group to which the worker belongs.
- Company name and contribution account code. It shows the companies where the employee worked and the corresponding codes for each contribution account.
- Bid basis. It reflects the SSI contribution base, the amount used to calculate contributions for both the employee and the employer.

The employment report proves very useful and is often required for several purposes:
- Administrative procedures. It is a crucial document for retirement, unemployment benefits, and other social benefits, helping verify eligibility for contribution requirements to access these benefits.
- Personal control. It allows the employee to confirm that all contributions and hours worked have been recorded correctly, which is vital for calculating future pensions.
- Job selection processes. In some cases, companies request this report to verify a candidate’s work experience.
- Loan or mortgage applications. Financial institutions may request the report to assess employment and financial stability.
- Resolving inconsistencies. In case of a dispute with SSI or the employer regarding premium periods or contract types, the work history report serves as a reference document.
