In the aftermath of Hamas’ Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, authorities report that 190 supporters linked to the group have been detained in the West Bank. This information comes from a press briefing by the Israel Defense Forces IDF.
According to the IDF, a total of 330 individuals suspected of involvement in terrorist activities were detained, with 190 of them connected to Hamas.
During the night of October 15, authorities detained 49 suspects, 33 of whom were identified as Hamas supporters.
Earlier statements described a condition related to the release of civilians who have been captured, indicating that negotiations or humanitarian considerations may be part of the broader dynamic surrounding the conflict.
On October 7, Hamas forces fired thousands of rockets at Israel and announced the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. Thousands of militants crossed into Israeli territory, seizing military equipment and taking more than a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli leadership declared that the country was at war.
The IDF launched an intervention operation named Iron Swords with the stated aim of neutralizing Hamas forces. The Israeli Air Force targeted hundreds of Hamas facilities in the Gaza Strip, and the National Security Council ordered the suspension of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel supplies into the enclave. On October 13, the United Nations warned that up to 1.1 million Palestinians should be evacuated to southern Gaza within 24 hours ahead of a potential ground operation.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed the commitment to dismantle Hamas and the military campaign aimed at degrading Hamas capabilities continued as events unfolded.
Reportedly, the situation has prompted ongoing defensive and humanitarian considerations in parallel with military actions. The developments have included ongoing detentions and investigations into individuals suspected of aiding or participating in militant activities, as cited by official briefings.
