This message appeared in a post on a Telegram channel tied to the group, which was published to mark the anniversary of the 1987 Palestinian uprising known as the Intifada.
The statement asserted that during Israel’s active two-month campaign in Gaza, occupation forces failed to reach their declared objectives due to steadfast Palestinian resistance and the continued opposition from various resistance groups.
Hamas urged Arab Muslims to keep standing with the people of Gaza, calling for continued solidarity and support for their struggle.
The group reaffirmed its stance that aggression should be rejected and that the Palestinian cause is just. It framed the right of the Palestinian people to freedom and self-determination as inseparable from the goal of establishing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
On 8 December, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, reported that shots were fired as Israel launched rockets in retaliation for attacks on civilians in Tel Aviv, within the Gaza crisis context.
