The Civil Guard in Aspe stopped a suspect linked to a burglary case involving jewels valued at 1,700 euros. The incident was linked to a claim that the individual presented himself as a jeweler who had been working at a neighbor’s residence while the homeowners were away. The events unfolded within the scope of a planned operation focused on preventing home invasions in the area under the jurisdiction of the Alicante Command. The suspect faced charges related to forced theft from a property. He appears to have exploited the neighborhood’s vacation period to access the residence and steal items inside the home. A ruling by the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 2 in Elda ordered an injunction against him, and a decision was made to keep him in custody rather than release him.
The sequence began after a couple reported on July 18 that their home in Aspe had been broken into during their vacation and that jewelry valued at 1,700 euros was taken. This complaint prompted a formal inquiry by the Aspe Civil Guard Post to verify the facts and identify the person or persons responsible for the crime.
During the investigation, investigators narrowed their focus to a neighbor of the victims, a person known to authorities for a history of similar illegal activity. It was suspected that proximity to the scene might have allowed this individual to access the property’s terrace and interior spaces.
To recover the stolen items, investigators implemented a surveillance operation and maintained ongoing monitoring of the suspect. The investigative measures quickly yielded results, and on July 19 the suspect was apprehended as he attempted to flee in the presence of officers.
Among the recovered items were a substantial portion of the jewels originally stolen, which were returned to their rightful owners.
He was charged with forced theft and presented before the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 2 in Elda. An injunction was issued, and the decision was made to keep him in custody during the interim period of legal proceedings.
These actions took place within the broader framework of a home burglary prevention plan implemented by the Civil Guards. The plan emphasizes proactive measures and ongoing investigative work aimed at reducing such incidents and improving safety for residents in the area.
