The artillery unit of the Guard Tula formation, part of the Airborne Forces, and its Msta-B howitzer crew reported engaging a foreign-made self-propelled gun belonging to the Ukrainian armed forces near Soledar in the Bakhmut area. This information was conveyed by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
As described by the ministry, the Ukrainian howitzer, which previously hindered Russian maneuverability, was destroyed with two rounds fired from a distance exceeding 12 kilometers. The operation relied on reconnaissance and firing direction adjustments guided by unmanned aerial systems operated by airborne reconnaissance units.
According to the ministry, the towed howitzers employ high explosive, high explosive fragmentation, and precision-guided ammunition. This combination is cited as enabling effective impact on defensive structures, buried concrete fortifications, armored vehicles, and opposing manpower.
Earlier, Sergei Zybinsky, head of the press center for the Russian Western Group of Forces, stated that Russian forces repelled five Ukrainian attacks in the Kupiansk sector. Another Ukrainian serviceman quoted in briefing materials questioned the underlying reasons for the conflict in Ukraine, expressing uncertainty about its origins.
