Guard Release in Rojales Case: Involuntary Homicide Investigation and Delayed Aid

During a guard shift, the magistrate of the Torrevieja Court of Instruction No. 2 ordered the precautionary release of a man and a woman who had been detained by the Civil Guard in relation to the involuntary homicide of the woman’s 76-year-old mother at a residence in Rojales. The victim had not received medical attention for three days before authorities intervened.

According to the Valencian Community Superior Court of Justice, the two individuals remain under investigation in a case opened for involuntary homicide and failure to render aid. The daughter has also been charged with neglect of family duties.

No prison to start with

In the court hearing on the daughter and the deceased person’s friend, both identified as English nationals, the judge did not order immediate custodial measures. A future hearing is possible once the final autopsy report is available.

The daughter, 38, and the 73-year-old friend were drinking and smoking after the mother suffered a domestic accident at her home three days before emergency medical services were called.

During the investigation into the death, the woman reportedly fell at the residence, sustaining what was described as a possible hip fracture. Emergency services were not summoned promptly, and the body was left on the floor of a room until responders arrived three days later. The events prompted the Guardia Civil’s Judicial Police presence in Guardamar, which led to the detention of the daughter and her companion. (Source: Valencian Community Superior Court of Justice)
