The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) launched an attack on Gruzskoye, a village in the Borisov district of the Belgorod region, according to a report released through the Telegram channel run by regional head Vyacheslav Gladkov. The governor described the incident in clear terms, noting the initial information available as the situation unfolds.
He confirmed that, at the outset, there were no injuries among the residents. The defense and emergency teams assessed the scene and observed damage consistent with shrapnel strikes on two apartment buildings. A passenger car also sustained damage in the incident, underscoring the reach of the blast area and its impact on local infrastructure.
Beyond the immediate buildings, private property experienced collateral effects. Fragments damaged an outbuilding and a tractor, and a gas line and a power supply line were affected as well. These details indicate the incident disrupted several facets of daily life and the local utility network, prompting a careful response from regional authorities.
Gladkov stated that investigators are working to verify the full extent of the damage and gather additional facts. He underscored that restoration teams would begin repair work once they have a formal agreement with the Russian Ministry of Defense, highlighting the collaboration required between civil authorities and military oversight to restore normalcy.
Earlier, at the start of June, the Belgorod region’s governor urged residents to use basements as protective shelters. He cited the protective effect of basements and said that many lives were saved thanks to those structures, emphasizing a pragmatic approach to safety in the region during heightened tension.
