Greenval Technologies and TNU project a tire recycling plant in Aspe
In partnership, Insa Turbo, part of Grupo Soledad and a leader in Spain’s coated tire market, joins Kraiburg Austria, a 75‑year veteran in coated tire technology, to extend their European materials supply agreement. The collaboration, which began six months ago, is moving forward with a focus on producing coated tires for electric buses. The study centers on a design suited to the unique demands of electric urban transport, with the Kraiburg K708 as the leading model under consideration for this new line.
Joaquín Pérez, head of Grupo Soledad’s industrial division, underscored the strategic importance of electrified public transport. He noted that electric buses are a turning point for city mobility and emphasized the role of smart tire technology in supporting the shift to electric-powered fleets. The joint effort aims to help shape the future of urban transit by delivering high‑performance tires that align with evolving mobility needs.
The new production line will complement existing tire operations and broaden the Alicante factory’s portfolio. Today, Grupo Soledad’s network already stocks a wide range of tires coated with Kraiburg materials, available through its extensive network of tire centers and service workshops.
As a broader initiative, Greenval Technologies and TNU highlight the potential for a tire recycling facility in Aspe. The Alicante operation focuses on creating durable, high‑quality products while reducing waste within the automotive sector. By collaborating on circular economy materials, the two entities plan to reuse and recover used components through advanced, high‑tech processes, driving sustainability across the supply chain. Industry observers view this partnership as a key signal of how European tire producers can align performance with environmental stewardship, advancing recycling technologies and materials science for coated tires and related automotive applications.
Both Insa Turbo and Kraiburg are pursuing process improvements that enhance product performance without compromising efficiency. The emphasis is on producing materials that support circular economy goals, minimize waste generation, and extend the lifecycle of tires used in commercial fleets. The effort integrates innovation from Kraiburg’s material science with Insa Turbo’s manufacturing capabilities to deliver coatings and compounds that meet the rugged demands of heavy urban transport and municipal fleets, while also contributing to the region’s industrial resilience and sustainability targets.
Industry stakeholders note that the collaboration benefits the broader ecosystem of suppliers, vehicle operators, and maintenance networks. By streamlining material usage and enabling higher recyclability, the alliance positions the Alicante facility as a hub for advanced tire technology in Southern Europe. The strategic focus remains on delivering reliable, long‑lasting coated tires for electric buses, alongside ongoing developments in circular economy processes that repurpose used materials into new automotive components. This balanced approach aims to reduce environmental impact while maintaining peak performance standards for fleets and service partners across the region.
