They disappeared from the night as a consequence of a complaint. Despite boasting tens of thousands of followers and investing more than a dozen years on Twitter, two accounts emerged later to support the return of the TVE competition and to advocate for its comeback. These profiles are currently suspended and inactive.
Now a page created last June, the account @GrandPrix_tve with just over 6,500 followers presents itself as the official profile of the show on that social network. In its pinned tweets, it states: Here we tell you what happens in front of and behind the cameras on the program. (Source: official profile description)
People have started replying to this post with questions about what happened to the other two accounts that used to follow news and memories around the legendary summer resort of the public channel. (Source: user discussions on the platform)
Shameful
A audiovisual director named Danny Sango commented that the two accounts are blocked. Sango has supplied information for more than a dozen years and has fought to bring the program back. He notes that the action of blocking prevents the topic from remaining only with the official channel. The situation is embarrassing, he says, and if it had not been for those two accounts, Grand Prix would have had a far harder path to return. This has been described as a real embarrassment by multiple participants. (Source: interview with Danny Sango)
Given the absence of an official TVE profile for the program, one of the two accounts claimed to be an official channel but not the other, and that second one is blocked. (Source: social media statements)
People have suggested staying away from YouTube channels that store old episodes. Some fans fear that media actions could erase past announcements and memorable moments. A fan channel that compiles schedules, announcements, and the show’s highlights has grown to 43,400 subscribers with 190 videos to date. The discussion continues among viewers who worry about the integrity of news surrounding the Grand Prix. (Source: fan channel metrics and comments)
