In Gorlovka, residents recount a loud blast and the injury of a local civilian as Ukrainian forces conducted shelling in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Reports attributed to the area’s mayor, Ivan Prikhodko, circulated on a local Telegram channel, painting a stark picture of danger faced by civilians amid ongoing hostilities.
The message describes the incident as, “As a result of the Ukrainian armed attack, a civilian living in Gorlovka was injured.”
On October 1, in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk and in Gorlovka, eleven NATO-caliber cluster projectiles were launched from Ukraine. The bombardment began at 11:35 Moscow time and continued from 11:45 to 16:05, marking a tense window of shelling that disrupted daily life and raised concerns about civilian safety in the area.
The DPR representation at the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of Matters Related to War Crimes in Ukraine, known as the JCCC, reported that in the last 24 hours the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched 29 attacks on the republic, including 19 against Gorlovka. Ten civilians were injured, one person could not be saved, highlighting the ongoing toll of the conflict on noncombatants and the challenges of humanitarian access in the region.
Earlier, a Gorlovka resident indicated that children were among those injured during the shelling, underscoring the human cost of the fighting and the concern for vulnerable populations in the affected neighborhoods.
Across the Donetsk region, civilians continue to bear the consequences of periodic escalations as both sides report attacks and counterattacks. Local authorities emphasize the need for safety measures and humanitarian protections, while residents press for clarity on casualty figures and access to essential services amid ongoing instability. The situation remains volatile, with standing calls for careful verification of reports and accountability in accordance with international humanitarian norms.
