Named Global Green Employment (GGE), the initiative seeks to unlock access to the talent needed by firms and educational bodies active in sustainability and energy transition. The platform is designed to bridge gaps between job seekers, training providers, and employers, ensuring a smoother path from education to employment in a market that is increasingly hiring for green capabilities.

Iberdrola kicked off the project with a formal unveiling at its Madrid headquarters, signaling its commitment to building a digital meeting place where future-focused workers can discover opportunities and where agencies delivering training and job placements can collaborate with businesses and institutions aligned with green goals.

In its initial phase, GGE will concentrate the listings and learning options within the Spanish market, a move intended to spark broader international reach over time. The company’s leadership stressed that Spain is the launchpad, with plans to scale globally. “Today GGE is born in Spain, but tomorrow we begin the path to make it global. This project should stay active and grow,” stated Mario Ruiz Tagle, CEO of Iberdrola Spain.

Partners fueling the platform

From the start, Iberdrola commits to curating high-quality content on the platform and delivering a diverse catalog of international job and education opportunities for social actors and the broader public.

Estrella Martín Segurado, Talent Director for Global Iberdrola, emphasized the platform’s broader role. “We aim to be a genuine facilitator, not merely a listing service from Iberdrola, but a real link between social mediators and citizens and a network of other companies and educational institutions eager to participate,” she explained.

With Europe facing notable unemployment figures, the energy transition can translate into tangible chances for workers, especially youth and those displaced by automation. The initiative notes that by the start of the decade, a green employment portfolio could cover more than five million roles, underscoring the scale of opportunity within the climate action agenda.

The GGE platform is built to provide steady, reliable access to roles and programs that enable people to reskill, upskill, and align their careers with sustainability goals. By aggregating opportunities from both private and public sectors, it aims to reduce friction in the job-search journey and to help regional economies transition toward greener, more resilient growth paths.
