20 cents bonus on fuel for carriers drops to 10 cents
In early 2023, the market saw the removal of the 20 cent fuel bonus. The government established a mid year framework to address the crisis and high prices in fuel. Even though the discount has not been in place for several months, it is clear that fuel prices did not climb as high as they did before the austerity measure was introduced for drivers.
The 20 cent fuel bonus for carriers reduced to 10 cents
The government decided that the Council of Ministers would reserve the aid for professional transport along the highway. The discount remained in effect until April 1, when the gasoline discount for carriers was cut from 20 cents to 10 cents. The move reflected a favorable trend in fuel prices.
This protection remained in place until June 30 for industry professionals. The discount also applied to fleets powered by gasoline, with the subsidy increasing from 27 cents to 14 cents. Consequently, the monthly subsidy paid to carriers decreased. In the first half of 2023, the total cost of these reductions was projected to reach 598 million euros.
