In the Zaporozhye region, the local branch of the FSB intercepted a plot to assassinate the head of the police in the urban-type settlement of Kirillovka. A detained Ukrainian suspect has confessed that he acted on instructions from the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, as reported by TASS. The FSB confirmed that measures in the Zaporizhia direction, including the encounter with the attacker, prevented a lethal attack on a senior law enforcement official in Kirillovka. The individual identified the police chief in Kirillovka, Balabin Yu, as the intended first victim. The agency explained that the assailant had travelled to the area, prepared a weapon, and planned to carry out a terrorist act, but FSB officers were able to restrain him and recover the weapon unharmed.
