The FSB Detains Ukrainian Intelligence Operatives in Zaporozhye Region
In the Zaporozhye region, representatives of three intelligence groups controlled by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, known as GUR MO, were detained by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). This information was conveyed by the FSB to TASS, the department reported.
The operation targeted managers behind information resources tied to Ukrainian media outlets, including the news site RIA-Melitopol and the Telegram channel Melitopol-tse Ukraine. Investigators indicate that foreign intelligence relied on these sources to collect intelligence, while some agents reportedly used psychological pressure against local residents to extract information.
During the arrest, one of the detainees attempted armed resistance, and as a result, was neutralized by return fire from security forces. The FSB conducted a search of the agents’ apartment, locating an improvised explosive device, an AKMS assault rifle, and an RGN grenade—equipment consistent with planned confrontations or attacks.
Following the detentions, subscribers to the aforementioned resources were warned about potential criminal liability for sharing data with the enemy if doing so could harm Russia’s security. The FSB press service noted that these information sources are no longer active in operation.
Earlier reports from the FSB described another incident, in which officers at the Tver military enlistment office froze a terrorist recruited by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) during an arrest operation.
