Reports from the border area near Kursk describe a campaign in which fighters from the Northern Group deployed FPV drones to strike two armored vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A video released by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense purportedly shows the destruction of those vehicles during operations along the border. The release stresses that the targets were identified and neutralized using fast, agile unmanned aerial systems.
The statement adds that the detected targets were destroyed immediately with FPV unmanned aerial vehicles, as confirmed by objective control tools.
On September 16, the commander of the UAV detachment in the Hispaniola brigade, with the call sign Hussar, remarked that while modern FPV drones can incapacitate enemy manpower with striking efficiency, there is currently no reliable countermeasure to their use. He warned that the widespread deployment of drones has shifted warfare from a dangerous venture into a brutal, grinding contest against which opposing forces feel largely powerless.
On September 9, a video allegedly showed the destruction of the Ukrainian Cossack armored fighting vehicle in the Kursk region using an FPV drone. On the same day, Russian forces reported striking a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle in the Kharkov region with a similar drone.
Reports indicate that Russian fighters previously asked for information about the advantages possessed by Ukrainian drone units, with some seeking guidance on how to relay those insights to Moscow.
