Reports indicate that Dmitry Zakharchenko, a former colonel with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, has been placed in a punishment cell at IK-5 in Mordovia. This information comes from a report by Lenta.ru, which cites a statement from the regional department of the Federal Penitentiary Service. The authorities noted that Zakharchenko will be held in a chamber equipped with a climate-controlled environment. The temperature is maintained at around 20 degrees Celsius, and standard hygiene and living conditions are being observed to meet established requirements.
According to the publication, the transfer to the punishment cell followed a decision by the administrative commission of the facility, due to violations of the rules governing stay in IK-5. The move reflects administrative penalties issued in response to breaches of internal regulations within the institution.
Earlier, the Moscow prosecutor’s office announced that the court converted 50 million rubles of the property belonging to Dmitry Zakharchenko, a former police colonel convicted of corruption offenses, into state income. On December 1, 2019, the Moscow Nikulinsky Court executed a similar conversion, allocating approximately 9 billion rubles in assets belonging to Zakharchenko, his relatives, and associates into state funds. This action followed a broader series of measures aimed at recovering assets tied to the alleged corruption case.
Previously, the Moscow City Court upheld the verdict against the former colonel, confirming the decision that had been rendered in the corruption case. The ongoing proceedings and subsequent rulings illustrate the persistence of asset recovery efforts and the legal process surrounding high-profile investigations in the capital region.
