A high-ranking official in the Krasnodar region faced a corruption conviction. The case was reported by a major Russian outlet, drawing on the regional Investigative Committee’s findings. The former deputy minister who led the agriculture and processing industry sector was found guilty after investigators uncovered a pattern of bribery connected to subsidy allocations.
According to the investigation, the official chaired the competition commission responsible for selecting participants in a regional program designed to support agricultural development. He allegedly demanded a bribe of 4 million rubles from the head of a cooperative in exchange for approving a subsidy. The complainant reported the illicit request to law enforcement and handed over the funds under police observation on April 30, 2022.
Additional evidence revealed that from December 2017 through February 2018 the official sought bribes totaling 10 million rubles from leaders of the same cooperative network. The investigation captured a broader pattern of influence and control over subsidy distribution within the program.
As a consequence of the proceedings, substantial property was seized, totaling 19 million rubles. The court sentenced the former official to 12 years in a strict regime colony, imposed a 15 million ruble fine, and banned him from holding public office for 12 years. These penalties reflect the seriousness of the offenses and the state’s commitment to upholding integrity in public procurement and subsidy processes.
The case adds to a history of anti-corruption actions involving high-level officials in related sectors. Earlier cases have involved officials overseeing federal property management who faced penalties for financial misconduct.
