Christina, a 32-year-old woman, faced a difficult case not easily solved. The alleged perpetrator was identified and detained last Monday. The incident occurred on the first-floor landing of No. 1, Calle Alegría, in the Zaragoza district of San José. Both the victim and 45-year-old Adil Lazizi sustained defensive wounds, indicating a struggle in which a kitchen knife may have been used as the weapon. The cuts affected both hands and arms.
The central challenge for experts from the Aragon Institute of Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences (Imlcfa) centers on the knife allegedly carried by the killer in a stomach-strap package, which reportedly caused internal injuries. Investigators are examining whether the blade could have opened autonomously.
Fewer doubts surround the victim, who sustained a fatal neck wound. The cause of death is reported as hypovolemic shock due to severe blood loss, consistent with a homicide. The initial findings, along with the forthcoming report, are expected to be submitted to the Court of Duty this Thursday, with further elaboration anticipated in the months ahead.
A court order dated Thursday references Adil Lazizi and his appearance before the Zaragoza Court of Justice. Admitted to Miguel Servet Hospital in Zaragoza, the patient’s condition will determine whether referral to the courthouse or health center is required. The individual is in custody due to a prior state security warrant and because he did not return from leave, coupled with the risk of attempted escape given the severity of events and his background.
If there are no last-minute developments, with the assistance of defense attorneys Carmen Sánchez Herrero and Luis Ángel Marcén, it is likely the defense will argue self-defense, claim that the victim was obsessed, and contend that alcohol played a role that night. Specifically, seven beers and half a bottle of cream liqueur are cited.
The victim’s screams were heard around 9:55 PM, prompting local residents to contact the National Police. When multiple patrols from the Aragon Police Department’s Citizen Security Brigade arrived, the victim had died on the landing, and Adil Lazizi was injured but alive. He obeyed orders to drop to the ground before being arrested, allegedly shouting at the officers, “Man is always guilty.”
Another murder attributed to him
Lazizi has previously been sentenced to 21 years in prison for the murder of a 24-year-old French woman named Siham, who was traveling with a friend. The incident occurred after the two couples went to a rented flat on the fourth floor of 35 Hierbabuena Street in the Tetuán district.
The group split up, and around 08:00 the victim’s friend heard cries of pain. Entering the room, he found Siham lying on the bed, covered in blood with eight stab wounds. Adil Lazizi was not present at that moment, but hours later he surrendered at a police station on Francos Rodríguez street. The victim was found in her underwear and refused to testify to the agents.
Investigations by National Police later indicated that the French woman’s murder was linked to her refusal to engage in sexual activity. Authorities recovered the murder weapon, a 20-centimeter kitchen knife with a splintered wooden handle, on top of a sideboard at the entrance to the apartment. This weapon bore similarities to the knife used in the Alegría street incident in Zaragoza on Monday night.
