Fires Have Larger Impact Across Kurgan Region, Evacuations Under Way
More than 120 buildings were destroyed by natural fires in recent days. Emergency services reported that flames swept through two settlements and three garden associations in the region. The official brief indicated that in the village of Rechkina, the village of Bogandinsky, and at three garden settlements, 124 buildings were burned by natural fires, with a portion of those structures being residential homes.
Previously, emergency services noted that in the Kurgan region, 32 houses burned across four communities as a result of the fires. Officials also announced a regional emergency status on the Telegram channel, highlighting that the situation required heightened readiness and response across the region. Residents and observers shared videos online showing fire whirls and the fire’s spread beyond the outskirts of communities. The footage captured flames moving toward streets and cottages, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures.
In another update, the regional EMERCOM authorities reported evacuations in several areas. Residents were moved from the villages of Redkino and Ploskaya, the Sladko-Karasinskoye area in the Kurgan region, and nearby Topol micro-region as well as the villages of Uval and Smolino in the surrounding suburbs. The evacuations were prompted by the threat of smoke and the potential for advancing fires, prompting authorities to establish safety corridors and direct people to safer locations.
