A brush and forest fire erupted this Friday at the noon hour near the CV-825A regional road that links Aspe with Monforte del Cid in the Medio Vinalopó area. The incident drew a rapid response from Civil Guard units and local police, who coordinated with regional firefighting teams to establish a perimeter and slow the spread of flames toward nearby communities.
Rescue crews reported that emergency missions included a diverse fleet of resources. Aircraft, including seaplanes and helicopters, joined ground crews in the effort. Firefighters from Elche and forest brigades were deployed to support the operation and to protect essential assets and residents in the path of the blaze. The coordinated air and ground actions aimed to bring the situation under control quickly and prevent possible evacuations or structural damage.
>The fire advanced across the regional landscape, following the route past the Bato Bridge and pushing into areas of Aspe. The flames moved along the corridor near the departure camp in Novelda and continued to progress until the coordinates along the highway were affected on both sides, covering approximately one and a half hectares of vegetation.
At 15:30, the road remained closed to traffic, with authorities maintaining the restriction as crews worked to secure the area and ensure public safety. The fire had already come under control, but the closure persisted while assessments and cooling operations continued to prevent any reignition.
The incident occurred under windy conditions, which contributed to the initial rapid spread of the flames. A visible plume of smoke rose above the town of Aspe, drawing the attention of residents and prompting ongoing communication from regional emergency services about road status and safety precautions.
