Officials confirmed that the fire season has begun in 72 regions, and 28 regions are currently under a special fire regime. The notification underscores a growing need for heightened vigilance as weather conditions shift toward hotter, drier patterns typical of the season.
The Ministry of Emergencies notes that the heat wave developing in several parts of the country elevates the risk of forest fires. The mixing of dry grass, summer cottages, and ongoing household waste burning creates scenarios where small fires can quickly escalate into larger incidents if not properly managed.
According to the department’s press service, there are clear restrictions in place during a special fire regime. Outdoor cooking, including kebab grilling, and any open fires in natural areas are prohibited in regions where the regime is active. Penalties for violations can reach up to 5,000 rubles for citizens. If a fire under such a regime damages someone else’s property, penalties may escalate to criminal charges depending on the severity and consequences of the incident. Local authorities emphasize that compliance is essential to protect communities and natural resources.
Earlier, a decision was signed by Andrey Vorobyov, the former governor of the Moscow Region, regarding the launch of the fire season in the regional forests. The order establishes a special environmental regime running from April 10 to November 15, guiding activities in forested areas and setting clear expectations for residents and visitors about permissible conduct and safety measures during this period.
