In Tulun, a fire enveloped a garage box covering 1.6 thousand square meters, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Irkutsk Region. Fire crews were already engaged in suppressing the blaze as reports circulated through RIA News.
The conflagration occurred in a building that housed a stone processing workshop along with two tractor loaders and three dump trucks. Emergency services received the alert at 02:30, which is 21:30 Moscow time, and four fire brigades were dispatched to the location to confront the rising flames.
Fire teams reported that the open fire was curtailed within two hours, with the affected area measured at 1,600 square meters. Officials indicated that efforts would continue to address the aftereffects of the fire, including cleanup and assessment of structural safety.
During the incident, crews evacuated a forklift, two dump trucks, and six gas cylinders from the site to prevent further hazards. The specific causes and conditions of the fire remain under investigation by investigators from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.
Earlier, firefighters brought under control a separate blaze that impacted two burning buildings in the village of Chunsky, Irkutsk region. The fire covered 1,080 square meters, and reports noted that the roof of a single-storey building ignited before the fire extended to a nearby three-storey structure. There were no reported injuries at that time.
Officials stated that the three-storey store building in Chunsky was extinguished, and work on drainage and dismantling of damaged structures continued as part of the response. Investigators from the Russian Emergencies Ministry launched a formal inquiry to determine the fire’s origin and contributing factors.
