Traffic was restored on the alternative Leningradsky Prospekt and on Chernyakhovsky Street in Moscow’s northern sector after a large residential fire. The information came from a telegram channel associated with the metropolitan ministry of transportation.

Officials stated that traffic was back to normal on Chernyakhovsky Street and the alternative Leningradsky Prospekt, easing congestion in the area.

During the night, flames erupted on the roof of a residential building situated on Chernyakhovsky Street. The initial blaze covered about 300 square meters, but the fire intensified and spread to as much as 4,000 square meters before crews gained control. Two helicopters were deployed to assist in extinguishing the flames.

Firefighting teams brought the blaze under control and it was subsequently declared fully extinguished.

According to the Russian news agency TASS, this fire ranks as the most extensive residential-house blaze in Moscow in recent memory.

Singer Natalya Sturm told reporters that she escaped unharmed from the burning building in the northern part of the city. Evacuated residents informed the press that they would be accommodated for a period at a social hotel as authorities arranged shelter and support.

In the building affected by the fire, flats were allocated to writers and poets. The residence is part of the housing cooperative Moscow Writer. The facility has hosted numerous literary circles and notable figures over the years, including Daria Dontsova, Bella Akhmadulina, Lev Bezymensky, Tatyana Bek, Lev Ginzburg, Alexander Galich, and Alexey Arbuzov, among others.

Earlier reports linked a separate incident at an oil refinery in the Krasnodar region to a deadly fire, though details of that event were not directly connected to the Moscow blaze.
