A severe fire at a residential building on Chernyakhovsky Street in northern Moscow was fully extinguished, according to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations as reported by TASS. Officials confirmed that the blaze in the northern part of Moscow was brought under control and eliminated by responders.

The incident began shortly after midnight when the roof of the building caught fire. The fire initially spread over about 300 square meters, but it soon expanded dramatically, affecting an area reaching nearly 4,000 square meters before containment.

Around 400 residents were evacuated from the building and its fifth entrance; among those rescued was an elderly man who could not leave the premises on his own. Two helicopters were deployed to assist in suppressing the fire and ensuring the safety of people trapped within the structure.

Natalya Sturm, a singer and resident of the building, reported that the fire began around 1 a.m. and that efforts to combat the blaze involved aviation support as part of the emergency response.

Russian emergency officials described this incident as the largest fire involving a residential building in Moscow in recent memory, underscoring the scale of the emergency and the response required.

Earlier reports noted that Natalya Sturm had previously managed to escape a burning residence in the northern part of Moscow, illustrating the constant danger faced by residents in the area.

In the aftermath, investigators and emergency teams focused on securing the site, accounting for residents, and assessing structural stability to prevent further hazards. Local authorities coordinated evacuation routes, temporary shelters, and ongoing fire suppression operations to ensure the safety of all affected residents and to facilitate a thorough investigation into the cause of the blaze.
