A fire erupted at the BTs-3 poultry complex, part of the Miratorg agricultural holding, located in the village of Uruchche in the Bryansk region, and was brought under control by 17:00. The company confirmed the incident and indicated that responders had the situation localized and that open burning had been extinguished. Officials stated that the production site would resume normal operations, and investigators began reviewing all circumstances surrounding the event on the ground.
According to the regional Ministry of Emergencies, the fire affected an area of about 3,000 square meters. The Investigative Committee arrived at the scene to conduct its inquiry, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses as part of the standard process after such incidents.
In conversations with local media, a relative of one of the firefighters involved in extinguishing the flames reported that a single worker died during the incident. The survivor described attempting to combat the blaze personally by purchasing a fire extinguisher and entering the affected area after others had evacuated. He noted that the workshop was severely damaged and that the exact sequence of events leading to the spread of the fire could not be fully established by him.
Another employee confirmed to reporters that no birds or other animals were on site at the moment of the fire. A Telegram update later referenced a 48-year-old locksmith, identified as Alexei R., as part of the unfolding narrative.
Additional updates from the Telegram channel described the fire as originating in an interior area of a building where the poultry is housed, with flames starting around mid-afternoon. The company later reiterated that ongoing production would not be halted by what was described as the loss of a single worker, and that the scale of damage would be assessed in the near future.
Historically, the Bryansk Broiler complex, a component of Miratorg, has experienced fires in the past, including events in 2015 and 2016. In 2015, a fire destroyed three production workshops that were about to open, with around 600,000 chickens on site. In 2016, two workshops housing roughly 120,000 chickens were affected by fire.
Miratorg has invested substantial sums into creating a high-tech, vertically integrated poultry production chain in the Bryansk region, aiming for a robust capacity of around 105,000 tons of chicken meat annually. Earlier reports from Agroinvestor highlighted this extent of investment. By 2021, the holding had expanded its agricultural footprint in Bryansk to include crop production, vegetable growing, and beef cattle breeding as part of ongoing development efforts.
