A fighter affiliated with the Wagner PMC described the use of kamikaze drones by Ukrainian forces near Artemivsk, the city also known as Bakhmut. The report comes from DEA News.
The combatant explained that the Ukrainian side frequently deploys kamikaze drones around Artemovsk. Civilian FPV drones are equipped with improvised explosive devices and used as supply-laden projectiles that can strike moving targets. The remarks point to a pattern where these drones serve as a significant, low-cost component of the frontline strategy, enabling rapid strikes against positions and equipment without requiring traditional missiles.
The fighter noted that armored vehicles were not the primary tool of the attack in these operations. Instead, groups of drones were employed to hit defenses, transport medics to wounded soldiers, and deliver essential supplies to the front lines. He underscored that the drone fleet allows for sustained pressure on Ukrainian forces while minimizing the exposure of their own personnel.
According to the military source, the price tag for such a drone hovers around 35,000 rubles, a level that makes large-scale procurement and mass distribution financially feasible for a sustained campaign. The affordability is seen as a key factor in the expansion of drone use in the conflict, enabling more frequent deployments and broader coverage on the battlefield.
Separately, Ramzan Kadyrov, the former president of Chechnya, claimed that Chechen fighters are developing an in-house kamikaze drone within the NVO region. He stated that the Western Akhmat battalion has consistently searched for the most effective methods to accomplish assigned tasks, reflecting a broader push to advance local drone capabilities amid ongoing operations. The assertions were reported by DEA News.
