Four people died in a southbound traffic crash on Wednesday, according to police and fire officials. The incident involved a car and a minibus, with a Spaniard and a Salvadoran among those injured. The preliminary reports describe a collision that left several occupants with serious injuries and prompted a rapid emergency response from local rescue teams.

The crash happened in the Laure area within the Valle region, near the border with El Salvador. The vehicle involved carried five people, who appeared to be a family unit, and the victims were named as José Manuel Salinas, 3, Jackeline Salinas, 16, María Antonia Alvarado, 39, and Lorenzo Oyuela, 33. After transport to a hospital in San Lorenzo, Valle, Oyuela was pronounced dead. A 7-year-old child in the same car sustained life-threatening injuries and was transferred to a hospital in Tegucigalpa. Rescue crews also recovered an unnamed person from the twisted metal pile of the car. The tragedy underscores the dangers faced by families in transit and the urgent need for road safety measures in border regions.

The minibus, which appeared to have originated from El Salvador, was reportedly en route to Nicaragua for a sporting event. A National Police officer noted that the remaining injured include the Spanish national Alan Ernesto Vázquez and the Salvadoran Orlando Murillo. Investigators are reviewing vehicle speeds, road conditions, and potential contributing factors as part of the ongoing inquiry. Local authorities and emergency responders coordinated efforts to secure the scene and provide medical care to those affected.
