Extensive Security Deployment at Alicante University Festival

Eight people were arrested yesterday by the National Police of Alicante as part of a security operation linked to the annual paella festival that attracts thousands of young people to the Rabasa area. The event proceeded without incident, according to a statement issued by the Provincial Police.

During the operation, a total of 140 individuals were identified and 23 vehicles were checked. Ten penalties were issued for offenses including possession of illegal drugs, carrying a bladed weapon, and disobedience to police orders.

The eight arrests were recorded for violations including breaking court-imposed conditions, outstanding warrants and police requisitions, traffic safety offenses, and serious threats, based on information provided by the National Police.

Extensive Deployment

The security operation was coordinated by the Alicante Provincial Police Station and involved officers from the Prevention and Reaction Units, the Operational Response Group, the Mobile Brigade, the Citizen Attention Group, the Canine Guidance Unit, and support staff from various divisions and the Northern District Police Station.

In addition, air units assigned to the Police Air Resources monitored the festival from above, using police drones to oversee the event’s progress and ensure crowd safety.

Overall, authorities indicate the festival proceeded peacefully with no major incidents reported, and the day’s policing measures helped maintain order and safety for attendees and residents alike.
