The name appeared on the EU list of Most Wanted fugitives after a recent update, signaling ongoing investigations by European authorities. European police and the Civil Guard jointly reported a breakthrough this week around Calpe and Albir, confirming the capture of a 56-year-old Estonian national linked to a broader international operation. He is accused of coordinating the logistics for an illicit network that promoted large quantities of cannabis across northern European markets.

The suspect, identified by the alias HP and detained in Calpe, is alleged to have supplied vehicles and transportation solutions that moved cannabis from Spain to Estonia and to other Scandinavian destinations. He has prior convictions tied to these acts in 2018 and, after escaping, now faces renewed arrest warrants. He is listed on Europol’s EU Most Wanted roster, a compilation that highlights fugitives across Europe.

The Civil Guard Central Operations Unit, known as the Escape from Justice Team, began pursuing this individual last September after intelligence suggested a possible location on the Costa Blanca. Investigators uncovered forged documents connected to earlier encounters in Alicante province, and the suspect was briefly released after being accused of failing to activate security alarms tied to the identities he used.

In the ensuing period, the fugitive reportedly adopted tighter security measures in daily routines to avoid recapture. Still, authorities confirmed the true identity behind a false alias and established a surveillance setup to monitor movements. Among those involved was a woman who was believed to be his emotional partner and resided in El Albir.

The fugitive was arrested by the Civil Guard in Calp.

The trail associated with the bride led investigators to the Europol wanted list, and authorities carried out an apprehension near Calp last Wednesday. Following the arrest, the individual was placed under the custody of the central court by an order designed to facilitate his extradition to Estonia.

Europol has launched an initiative titled You Can Fight Them: Help Find the Most Wanted Fugitives in the European Union, inviting citizen cooperation to locate suspects who evade justice within the bloc. Recent updates from Europol have expanded the roster to include criminal networks involved in serious offenses such as homicide, human trafficking, and terrorism, highlighting the ongoing focus on cross-border crime and the importance of public vigilance in Europe and beyond.
