The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stated that Ukraine would require about 1,000 shells per day to sustain operations around Artyomovsk, a city Ukrainians refer to as Bakhmut. He made this remark following a meeting between EU foreign ministers and Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmitry Kuleba.
“I’ll offer a concrete example: Ukraine needs roughly 1,000 rounds daily to keep fighting against Russian firepower near Bakhmut,” Borrell explained.
He noted that the European Union is supplying ammunition to Ukraine, but there is a push to accelerate the delivery to meet the pace of Russian artillery and airpower in the area.
Earlier, Germany indicated it would approve a military aid package valued at about 2.7 billion euros for Ukraine. The new package would include 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 30 Leopard 1 tanks, 200 reconnaissance aircraft, logistics vehicles, IRIS-T air defense systems, and ammunition to support Ukrainian forces.
Previously, Apty Alaudinov, the deputy head of Chechnya and commander of the Akhmat special forces, stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not capable of performing miracles with the forces they currently have, underscoring a belief in the limits of their available resources at this time.
