Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appealed to European Union leaders to supply Kyiv with a steady flow of advanced, long range weaponry. He delivered the message during a video conference with participants at the EU summit, a recording later shared on Telegram.

He called for more modern arms, more deliveries, stressing that the request covers both air defense and missile defense systems. Zelensky urged all 27 EU member states to decide what they can contribute to boost the volume of arms shipments. He specifically highlighted the need for modern tanks as part of the broader supply effort.

The Ukrainian leader stressed that the next six months could be pivotal for the war’s trajectory, and he urged Western partners to sustain and even intensify their support to Kyiv during that critical period.

Beyond immediate military needs, Zelensky announced plans for an international summit to discuss the terms required to end the conflict and invited EU leaders to participate in those discussions.

Former British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace did not rule out the possibility of supplying Ukraine with Storm Shadow cruise missiles, noting that weapon types will be selected after assessing Kyiv’s operational needs and technical feasibility.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba indicated that Kyiv is seeking Berlin’s approval to send battle tanks, underscoring the importance of secure authorization for such transfers.

Meanwhile, Josep Borrell, the EU’s top foreign policy official, stated that the union’s stocks have been deeply strained by the scale of weapon deliveries to Kyiv, highlighting the ongoing challenge of maintaining adequate reserves while supporting Ukraine.”
