Eroski has launched a price relief initiative starting this Thursday and running through the year, aiming to help families cope with higher living costs. The warehouse and supermarket chain created a shopper basket with more than 1,000 discounted essential items. More than half of these products are priced under two euros, and over 200 items cost under one euro.
The basket covers fresh produce, household and personal care products, and a selection of commonly demanded consumer goods. The approach follows similar moves by other retailers; Carrefour announced a comparable discounted product basket in France the previous week.
This is Eroski’s discount basket.
The list features both Eroski’s own brand items and popular national brands, with around 35 percent of products supplied by leading manufacturers.

- About 20 percent of products address personal care and home care needs
- Biscuits, sausages, chocolate and other treats for occasional indulgence
Eroski also announced an investment of 100 million euros between 2022 and 2023 to adjust prices and transfer rising costs and inflation to consumers more smoothly.
The retailer hopes this initiative will help families shop more affordably and ease financial pressure during challenging times.
Eroski in Alicante province
There is a Basque chain with 11 supermarkets in the Valencian Community, with only one located in the Alicante province:
- Eroski City in Playa de San Juan (Avenida Santander 25)
It is noted that in 2016 Eroski agreed to the sale of five hypermarkets in the Valencian Community to Carrefour. The move affected working conditions and included the closure of a distribution site in Xàtiva. Two years later, the chain ceased alcohol sales at its stores, and in 2021 the same pattern continued at the L’Aljub Shopping Center in Elche.
