Engineering and Manufacturing Drive FP Demand in Vocational Training Markets

Over another year, the landscape of tabled job postings requiring vocational training shows notable shifts by professional role. The 15 positions with the strongest demand for vocational training now account for 41.5% of postings, a change from two years ago when demand was closer to 60% and the mix was less varied.

According to Adecco’s data for this year, Insurance Agencies take the lead in the FP ranking at 5.59%, marking the largest year-over-year gain for roles needing this qualification, followed by Industrial Maintenance Technicians, whose engagement fell by 2.45 percentage points and now sits at 5% of offers, after being the most sought-after category last year. In third and fourth places, Advertising at 3.78% and Commercial Directors at 3.76% each rose by substantial margins, while Management positions remain steady around 3.52% of FP offers, increasing slightly year after year.

Positions exceeding 2% of bidding activity include support technicians, mechanics, and network programmers. The list also features a notable operator specialist profile at 1.8% of offers. Further down, Export Area Managers appear for the first time in FP-demand rankings, not showing up in the prior year’s data.

Engineering and Manufacturing Remain the Core FP Demand Engine

The functional area of Engineering and Manufacturing continues to be the principal buyer of job postings, accounting for 31.08% of all FP offers, even as this measure dips by 1.68 points versus 2020. The next tier includes Commercial and Sales, Administrative and Secretarial roles, and positions in Technology, Information Technology, and Telecommunications, with 73.96% of all FP postings concentrated among these four groups.

Last year saw a marked decrease in VET postings for technical roles, dropping by 3.22 points, a notable shift in a field traditionally associated with these positions. Even with this decline, roles for technicians and other staff requiring this training still form the majority, totaling about 80.65% of all FP offers.

It is also worth noting that openings for executive and midlevel managers seeking this training continue to rise, increasing by 2.24 points in the previous year. This remains a trend observed for a second consecutive year.
