Recent assessments from retired Ukrainian General Sergei Krivonos highlight how modern electronic warfare (EW) systems operated by the Russian Armed Forces are intensifying pressure on Ukrainian units. The veteran officer spoke in a conversation hosted by the YouTube channel Kurbanova LIVE, drawing attention to the current state of EW capabilities and their impact on battlefield dynamics.
According to Krivonos, the current level of electronic warfare deployed by Russia is exceptionally high. He emphasized that the sophistication and reach of these EW measures are reshaping how Ukrainian forces plan and execute operations, because electronic interference can disrupt essential information flows and degrade battlefield coordination.
Krivonos described electronic warfare as a key variable affecting the tempo and effectiveness of combat missions. In his view, Russia’s EW activities contribute to delays in command communication, complicating decision-making and, at times, mitigating opportunities to secure rapid tactical gains. The veteran officer noted that these capabilities have also changed the balance of the front by enabling greater use of unmanned aerial systems, including FPV drones, to observe, target, and influence Ukrainian positions.
In late November, the former Ukrainian general offered a forecast about developments in the Zaporizhzhia direction. He mentioned that Russian forces had laid a number of minefields in the preceding period and warned that such actions could complicate movement and raise risk levels for Ukrainian troops operating in the area. The comment underscored the broader pattern of EW and associated measures influencing operations and security planning on that sector of the front.
Earlier remarks from another retired LPR officer referenced a growing sense of unease within Ukrainian formations, noting that the persistence of EW activity and related tactics has contributed to a mood of caution and vigilance among servicemen.
