The Elda-Petrer National Police arrested a young man accused of a violent murder and robbery at a public workplace. He allegedly attacked an employee with a knife as the victim stood behind the counter, grabbing him by the neck and injuring him during the incident.
The events unfolded in the afternoon at a store located on a central street in Elda. When the employee turned to fulfill a customer’s request for a product from behind the counter, an assailant, described by authorities as a robber, seized the opportunity to force his way into the interior and brandished a large knife from his clothing. He pushed the worker against a wall and demanded compliance.
The attacker showed a more brutal demeanor as he shouted threats. He swung the knife with one hand while gripping the victim’s neck with the other, lifting him slightly off the floor. The violence escalated as the assailant sought to intimidate the employee further while maintaining control of the weapon.
Reports indicate that the knife was used to leave the victim with grazes and deep cuts to the chest and neck, creating a heightened sense of panic and fear in the workplace. The assault was designed to maximize psychological impact in addition to physical harm.
During this disturbing sequence, the assailant managed to steal money from the cash register and then fled the scene quickly with the loot, exiting the store as witnesses looked on in shock.
The victim immediately contacted the police to report the incident and to provide a first account. Initial inquiries were conducted with the assistance of the local police force dedicated to national security matters. Following the investigation, the Elda-Petrer Local Judicial Police Brigade identified the suspect at a well-known street in the city and assumed charge of the ongoing inquiry.
The suspect, a 31-year-old Moroccan national with prior records, was taken into custody and handed over to the Investigation Court for processing. He remained in detention to face the charges related to the events that occurred.
