Drone Restrictions in Russian Regions: Current Status and Regional Extensions

The drone restrictions in the Tver region have been extended through October 1, as reported by the regional government’s press service.

Authorities in the region first imposed a ban on unmanned aerial vehicle operations in April 2023. That ban was initially set to end on May 15 but was extended multiple times. The latest extension keeps the ban in place until April 1, 2024, with updates announced in September of that year.

Earlier information indicated that SMS alerts were introduced in the Kursk region to warn residents of emergencies involving unmanned aircraft systems.

In February, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a temporary prohibition on agricultural drone use to farm lands within a closed sky zone spanning the southern and central parts of the country in 2024. The affected areas include the Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, as well as Astrakhan, Volgograd, Voronezh, Lipetsk, and Tambov regions.

There were reports that the drone ban in Buryatia would be relaxed in due course.
