A nighttime strike involving Ukrainian drones caused damage to power transformers at an electrical substation in Primorsko-Akhtarsk, according to statements from Vyacheslav Shaposhnik, who serves as acting minister overseeing the fuel and energy sector and housing and communal services in the Krasnodar Territory. The briefing, which was shared through a Telegram channel, noted the disruption of power supply as a direct consequence of the attack during the night hours.

At the time of the report, approximately 29,000 residents in the district found themselves without electricity. Among those affected were 19 facilities deemed socially important, all of which were connected to backup power sources to mitigate the impact on essential services and vulnerable groups.

Shaposhnik emphasized that mobilizing every available resource was a top priority to restore energy delivery. The backup and recovery effort involved 15 emergency response teams consisting of 75 specialists and supported by 16 units of equipment, all engaged in the rapid assessment and repair work needed to reestablish normal supply levels.

In relation to broader regional events, the night of July 5 saw Russian authorities report that southern regions of the federation faced drone incursions. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that air defense systems had destroyed and suppressed 50 unmanned aerial vehicles, including 14 interceptions in the Krasnodar region, 26 in the Zaporozhye region, and 10 in Rostov. In Primorsko-Akhtarsk, drone debris reportedly struck civilian buildings, resulting in injuries to six individuals. These developments underscore ongoing security concerns linked to drone activity across border-adjacent areas.

Earlier, Russia announced the establishment of a system designed to safeguard critical infrastructure from drone threats, highlighting a strategic emphasis on resilience and rapid response to potential attacks. This framework aims to reduce risk to essential services and maintain continuity of operations for communities dependent on stable energy supplies.

Overall, authorities continued to monitor the situation, coordinate repair operations, and assess the impact on residents while reinforcing protective measures for critical facilities in the region. The events reflect a broader pattern of conflict-related disruptions affecting energy networks and civilian safety in the broader area.
